The big Michigan behemoth, General Motors is suspending production of its vaulted electric car, the Chevy Volt. The factories will be pulling the plug on the 2012 model for five full weeks…while showrooms are still packed with these cars. The factory shut down will effectively reduce inventory to meet the consumer’s lower-than-expected demand. One has got to wonder what GM’s next move will be. Their original goal of selling 10,000 cars is far from being met, with only 7,671 sold last year. Our advice to those seeking a new Volt – wait a few months until the financial incentives kick in.
